Street Books: A Book Reading and Conversation about Houselessness

Since 2011, Laura and team have operated a mobile street library for people living outside called Street Books. They focus on people living outside and at the margins in Portland. In 2021, she co-wrote a book (Loaners: The Making of a Street Library) with Ben Hodgson, a man she met living on the streets of Old Town who eventually moved indoors and joined her Street Books team. They have been doing readings and community conversations with people ever since. She and Ben would love to share their book and talk with the Missing Corner community about their experiences and observations, and listen to others who have ideas to share.

Bring: Your experiences, questions and curiosities.
